Bob Keeshan and his friend Mr. Rogers were the antithesis of the hyperkinetic entertainers on kids' TV today. Their passing from the scene after so many years on the air left a giant vacuum, which this lovely little CD does a lot to fill. The 14 selections include "Joy to the World," "Silent Night," "Deck the Halls," "The Ballad of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol," "Happy Little New Year," and more. "Younger listeners could hardly ask for a more entertaining holiday record … with the legendary Bob Keeshan delivering renditions of both traditional favorites like 'Sleigh Ride,' 'Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town' and 'Jingle Bells' and lesser-known gems like 'Cracker Jack Christmas,' 'I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas' and 'Santa's Other Reindeer' with the same gentle humor which defined his TV series for so many years."—All Music Guide "Keeshan had many talents, and he had no edge. Having no edge is an admirable quality, but one that almost never flies today. It allowed men (and a few women) like Captain Kangaroo to simply exude an almost suspicious amount of niceness. Yet there was nothing to suspect. Captain Kangaroo, in his Carnaby-street red blazer with white trim, his bowl-cut bangs (a hairpiece) and those enormous walrus sideburns (also false) snaking around his cheeks, was just a really good man."—Washington Post
