There's show biz gold in these two Emmy-winning specials. After teaming up ad hoc on The Garry Moore Show, these two multitalented entertainers became fast friends and had a whale of a time stitching together a duo act. Mike Nichols was the writer for what Billboard called the "scintillating" Carnegie Hall gig of 1962, and the musical material was diverse, with a "History of Musical Comedy" duet, "Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?" and a spoof of the Trapp Family Singers. By the time of the 1971 "sequel," the two pals—both newly minted stars—plunged with gusto and finesse into a 46-song medley of pop hits that included "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Son of a Preacher Man," "Spinning Wheel," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" and "Aquarius" as well as drawing again on Tin Pan Alley ("Wait Till the Sun Shines, Nellie") and Andrews' Broadway laurels ("I Could Have Danced All Night").
