In 1986, jazz legend Anita O'Day took her well-honed act to London, where she was joined onstage by her longtime partner, John Poole, for this highly inventive concert. Opening and closing with Jobim's "Wave," O'Day performs many of her favorite standards, including "On Green Dolphin Street," "My Funny Valentine," "I Can't Get Started," "It Don''t Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)," "They Can't Take That Away from Me," and a phenomenal version of "Four Brothers." Recruited by drummer Gene Krupa for his band in 1941, O'Day sang on many hits, most notably the daring duet with African American trumpeter Roy Eldridge on "Let Me Off Uptown," which was both recorded and filmed. After a stint with Stan Kenton she struck out on her own, and the rest is history. "A singer's singer.
